Roxanne Ballowe’s philosophy of education is that all students can learn.  To be a great teacher you need to show that you care about students as people, not just a body that sits in a chair in your classroom.  Student’s lives are complex and we don’t know as teachers what each of our students had to deal with the night before. She believes that by reaching out to your students and being interested in their lives and what is going on in their lives, those students will see that you care and that you value them as individuals.  Students who feel valued and accepted will work harder when asked, than if they feel worthless to you.

As teachers you don’t need the newest trendy teaching program that may or may not work.  She believes that as teachers you deserve research based, proven and practical strategies that have been tested in REAL classrooms, not just practice environments.  Teachers need something that they can take back to their classrooms today and start using.  As educators, we have the toughest job in America. We don’t just work from 8:00-3:00 every day and then go home.  We arrive early, stay late and work many weekends as well.  We aren’t just teachers, we are nurses, counselors, advisors, lawyers, judges, and jury, just to name a few of the many different hats we wear throughout our day.

Students are very complex in that no two are exactly the same.  They come from different backgrounds, cultures, abilities and experiences.  Sometimes all that students have in common is their age.  The “one size fits all” approach to teaching doesn’t work anymore.

Roxanne knows that students don’t come to us willing and wanting to learn.  Just because they have been in school for a few years doesn’t mean they know how to behave.

She knows that you only have a few short hours in your day after recess, lunch, and specials (P.E., Library, music) to motivate and inspire your students.  Roxanne is here to help educators be successful using a common sense approach to classroom management.  Most importantly, she leaves educators with practical, proven strategies that work and can be implemented immediately.
